Mommy Needs A Chill Pill

Tonight the boys were wild.

Crazy with a capital C.

Out of control and driving their mama to the brink of insanity.

It's been raining for days and I love the rain. It calms me, relaxes me, totally chills me out. But the boys, oh lordy the boys were ruining every lovely effect a good downpour has on me. I threatened to send them to their room. I threatened to send them to bed. I begged and pleaded and even tried bribery. Nothing worked. They were couch jumping, cheetah growling, circle racing, and war cry howling all through the house.

At wits end I stripped off their pants and shirts. Down to their undies.

And instead of spanking their little bottoms red.....I sent them out into the monsoon.

Where they played in the pouring rain for an hour straight.

They are now snug in their beds, drifting off to dreamland, after telling me what a fun mommy I am, and oh my gosh when can they play in the rain again?

Just one small step towards being a better, funner, more spontaneous, less rigid, not so Kate Gosselin like mother. And I didn't even have to give them a bath.

  1. That's awesome. I bet they had a great time.

One day this summer it was pouring and my son wanted to go outside. At first I said no but then I thought, what the heck? Why not? He had a blast and I enjoyed a summer rainstorm for the first time in 20 years.

  2. I laughed out loud at the last line! You're so lucky to live where it's warm.

I must admit I'm tempted to make the garage a huge padded cell and put them all in there on days like that! LOL

  3. Very cool of you!

I've been known to use rain/pool water as a bath substitute too. :)

  4. Some of my fondest memories are being at my memaws and it raining in the summer. She would tell us to go out and play in it and even let us wash our hair under the rain falling off the roof. Our hair would be so soft. I ove that you let your kids go play in it...too many moms coddle thier kids to much now days.

  5. Frogs- Sometimes you just have to let go. This time it was either them or my sanity so I let them go instead of losing my everloving mind.

Michelle- Thank you. Thank you. I'll take a bow now.

Susan- But you're so lucky to live where it is absolutely gorgeous and you're surrounded by hot sexy Irish accents. And pubs! Don't forget the pubs!

Lindy- Thanks! I'm just working up to your super mom status.

Lisa- That is a great memory! Hopefully my kids will remember this when they're in therapy.

    TOM- Thanks girl!
