Fabulous Find Friday

I know I missed last week. So shoot me. No, don't. Sarcasm anyone?

I've been busy. My standard excuse but a very valid one. Last Friday I was in Hot Springs with all three kiddos at a follow up appointment for the Monster. We also visited the Mid-America Science Museum while we were there but that is another post.

The Monster has a plethora of doctor's visits between his skin, allergies, and ear problems. We travel a lot for those appointments but thankfully his dermatologist travels to us. They hold a clinic in town every two weeks. We just started using this new doc and she is wonderful. I could sing her praises all day. She suggested we ditch my old tried and true Cetaphil and use a newer cream and cleanser for the Monster's eczema/ectopic dermatitis/all around crazy skin issues.

CeraVe is a bit pricey but is what she recommends. We've started using the cleanser in the shower and the cream daily for him and he's looking better.

An excerpt from the site states:

Fabulous Find Friday

Every night at story time, both my boys beg and beg for me to read this story. For the umpteenth millionth time. I usually oblige because I, like them, find it highly entertaining.

Maurice Sendak is also the author of Where The Wild Things Are, another house favorite. In The Night Kitchen details Mickey's fabulous and surreal journey in a dough airplane to the Milky Way and back to bed.

A true classic that any family with children should have in their collection.

Fabulous Find Friday

Heather Bailey is fabulous. So fabulous that I had the most difficult time picking these fabrics out of her Freshcut and Pop Garden collections. But I am so glad I did. These fabrics will be turned into Sugarbaby's crib bedding by my talented friend J. Once she has worked her magic upon these fantastic fabrics, I'll be sure to share photos.

Today's Fabulous Find is a website I happened upon while perusing one of my favorite blogs, I just can't remember which one. babySteals.com is amazing! They only offer one item. A different one every day. At 50-80% off regular price. And they only offer it until they sell out. They update their site at 9am every morning with a new steal.

If you have children, particularly of the crawling drooling gah gahing sort, you must bookmark this site. You will thank me. Your husband will curse me. But you can always say, "But honey...I got it half price, and aren't you always telling me to save money?"

Turns out this whole exercise thing is not a one night stand. I've actually been at it for 3 whole weeks now. Consecutively. You're speechless. I just know it.


After the first week, I have to admit, I started getting kind of bored. What do I need to keep it fresh I thought. Music. Of course. How else am I suppose to get less flabby sculpted and toned without the audio aid of super amped up hip hop and the likes. Unfortunately the last time I owned a portable music player was in high school when having a discman wasn't such a bad thing. So I went to my trusty friend, Amazon.com, and researched my choices in the MP3 category. Time to introduce my new BFF. The Samsung Y-S2 Pebble.



Available in 5 colors, super small and slim, but still packs great sound. The earbuds come on a lanyard designed to be worn around your neck. Very convenient for my half walk, half jog, half falling down routine. I love how it looks and how inconspicuous it is. You don't have to be all in someones face rockin out acting all cool cause you can listen to your music instead of listening to them. And don't even pretend you don't do that. I did it just the other day in the doc's waiting room when this super annoying hillbilly was trying to tell me all about his almost Master's degree. Whatevah, dude.



This little player holds 13 hours of music and will play for 13 hours on one charge. The cool thing is it automatically charges when plugged into your USB port. It supports MP3, WMA, and Ogg audio formats.

If you can't tell, I am totally in love with my Pebble. If you're in the market for such a device, I highly recommend you try this one. Very reasonable priced and a great gift idea as well.

Just remember, the next time you're talking to me and I'm all nodding my head like I hear ya and empathize with everything you're saying, I may or may not just be totally ignoring you.

Babies require lots of gear. Some gear I have liked, some I have loved, some I have loathed (baby bathtubs for one). One of my most favorite things is my Chicco high chair. Double padded, removable double tray, 7 height positions, and 3 reclining options. This is the Caddy of all high chairs. Well, at least affordable high chairs.

They have several color schemes to choose from, although the edition I have (and love) is not available anymore. Sugarbaby can be seen here, maxing and relaxing in our Chicco.

Once upon a time I was young and naive. Naive of the hard truth of how much caring for oneself actually costs. Living at home with my parents, unawares that when I grew up I wouldn't be able to afford that Clinique 3-Step skincare system that I depended on. But my wise mother had the foresight to know this and when receiving a recommendation from her dermatologist, switched the whole family to using Cetaphil Facial Cleansers. A bit more economical, found at your local drugstore or supermarket, and they work like a charm.

Years later I am still using Cetaphil to wash my face, and when my eldest son developed severe eczema as a baby, it was suggested by his dermatologist to use Cetaphil's Moisturizing Cream.

Their formula is so versatile in the fact that it can be used on any age person and it works for both men and women. Throw out that stinky Axe stuff your man uses and replace it with this clean smelling solution that both of you can use. At just around $10 a pop, your skin will thank you without emptying your pocketbook.

That is what I am going with as of now. Subject to change at a moments notice. All the ideas were really good so I almost went with Tickle My Fancy Finds Sugarbritches Shopping for Materialistic Thingys. Too much, no?

Today's Fabulous Find(s) are child (I warned you) and sleep related. Sleep is a huge issue when you have children. How much they sleep, when they go to sleep, will you ever sleep again, and so on. It took four years to get the boys falling asleep without watching movies over and over and over. I accomplished that with a relaxation cd. It claims that it is strictly relaxation exercises and sleepy music. The hubby claims it is hypnosis. Whatever, I claim it worked. But, like all good things, they got bored with it. On to the next best, newer, and better thing.





Introducing...Rockabye Baby. Your favorite classic rock, alt rock, punk rock, etc. rock music set to lullabies. I purchased Led Zeppelin because me and Robert Plant have a love affair that goes back way before I was even born. My boys....LOVE IT.

Other titles to choose from: Radiohead, Coldplay, Metallica, Tool, Pink Floyd, Bjork, No Doubt, Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Pixies, The Beach Boys, The Cure, The Eagles, The Beatles, U2, Nine Inch Nails, The Ramones, Bob Marley, Green Day, Black Sabbath, and The Rolling Stones.

The littlest member of the family needed some sleep assistance too. Bring on the Sleep Sheep. The Sleep Sheep is so soft, so cute, and the best white noise machine in my humble opinion. The time spent laying with Sugarbaby pleading for her to sleep has been cut in half. Pretty soon, I'll put her in her own bed with Sheepy and let him work the magic all on his own. For now, I'm just showing him the ropes.
