The Tomten by Astrid Lindgren (author or Pippi Longstocking) is the perfect Winter story for young and old alike. The simplicity of the tale and the illustrations simply draw you into the snowy world of The Tomten.
As the Tomten makes his nightly rounds about the old farm deep in the forest, the Tomten talks to them in Tomten language, a silent little language that the animals can understand.
I love the idea of a kindly little spirit tucking everyone in for the night long after the humans have gone to sleep. This tale would make a great gift or an addition to your own collection.
