Ninja Swords Confuse Me

My husband has a ninja sword. Or samurai sword. Or "really big scary sword and I'm not sure what its called". He had this sword before we met. It now hangs in the shop in its black fabric wrapped sheath. I have absolutely no idea what its purpose is.

I don't think this strange trait of owning a sword is particular to my husband. I'm aware of a few other grown men who have their own really big scary swords. And still, I just don't get it.

Does your man keep one of these in your house?

  2. I agree. I think men just attach to weird "manly" objects. Jake's is a 90's Michael Jordan Bulls jersey. I've offered to put it in storage for him but it MUST stay hanging in his closet, as if he is going to wear it someday... sigh.

  3. Ninjato "ninja swords" are made-up weapons that we seem to think ninja actually used.

Katana "samurai swords" are usually used for decoration, but to some have deep sentimental value and can also be combat-ready meaning, yes, they can be used to "stab" a robber even though you don't stab with a curved sword.

  4. I don't get this either. My Dad has one that my husband would like me to "see if I can get."

What the hell do I need a sword for?
