I Fired The Electronic Babysitter

I had an epiphany the other day. Cashman watches entirely too much TV. Made obvious by the fact he asks if everyones shoes are Sketchers (even though we don't even own a pair), he tells me I need Caress Body Wash cause I have dry skin, and he sings Imagination Movers songs all damn day long. The Monster is no better. He is a walking infomercial for the Snuggie. If you've never seen it, count yourself lucky.

So I fired the TV. Seriously. Cancelled the satellite subscription and signed up for Netflix. The hubby and I aren't huge on TV. We watch in the evenings after the kids are in bed and we really don't need it as much now that football season is over. I am going to dearly miss my John & Kate fix, but I can always get them a season at a time. Also PROJECT GIVE BOYS A BEDROOM caused us to lose our TV room and relocate all living room furniture into the cramped dining room. I keep telling myself and everyone else that its only temporary and we will get that room back in a few weeks. Patience people. Patience.

Pretty soon it will be Spring and there won't be an excuse to be sitting inside on our arses. It will be time to start planting the garden, dusting off the swingset, getting a blowup pool to cool down in. Iced tea, margaritas, bbq chicken, corn on the cob, lazy lazy summer days. Sugarbaby should be walking by summer, maybe earlier at the rate she's going. She is going to learn and absorb so much in the next year. I can't wait to see how she changes. There is nothing like the coming of Spring to wake you up and make you aware of how quickly time is passing. I just wish it would hurry up and get here.

  1. It actually felt springlike here yesterday. Just enough to give me spring fever before it gets cold again!

  2. Good luck during the withdrawal period! LOL We gave up our tv too, for much the same reasons. We've got so much more time to get things done, and now I can't believe how much we spent on satellite tv before.

  4. Way to go! We've been cable free for almost a year. I had to pick up crochet this winter so I had something to do, but other than that we haven't missed it too dearly. We still get the weather and anchor stations which is more than enough.
